This bookwork incorporates the content I developed for an essay called "Worlds Within Worlds" for Familiars Quarterly, Issue 1, 2015, edited by Anna Fitzgerald. Familiars Quarterly explores,"... a spectrum of relationships between human animals and their Familiars - non-human living things..." The theme of the issue was spirit animals. My spirit animal is the turtle. I wrote about the qualities of a turtle that inspire me, the turtle that lives near my studio and related family recollections in this essay. The visual materials are based on watercolors, experiments with printed toner and digital manipulations. I created a video of the essay and book with the same title.
